Swap Guidelines

Sign-up deadline is the 15th of the month before blocks are due (Sept 15 for Scrappy Blues, for example)

Mail your blocks so they arrive no later than the due date, please.  Best to allow a week for your pretty blocks to travel, so plan ahead :-)

Measure your blocks.  Accuracy is really important in swap blocks so they will all fit together, eventually.  Your hostess goes crazy trying to swap out blocks that are random sizes, so be prepared to get your blocks back unswapped if they do not measure 6.5" raw edge to raw edge.

1.  Contact hostess with your name, email address, and the number of sets you would like to swap.

2.  You will make 6" finished (6.5" raw edge to raw edge) 9-Patch blocks with 5 "dark" patches and 4 "light" patches.   Mix up your fabrics if you want for really scrappy, just remember that the block should "read" as a darker X floating on a lighter background.  Cut your patches (or strips if you prefer quick methods) at 2.5" to make your blocks.  Use scant 1/4" seams; pay attention to careful pressing; butt opposing seams to make your life easier getting nice, clean intersections of color; and MEASURE your blocks.  Confused?  Need more detailed instructions if'n you're more of a beginner quilter?
Write me, and I'll try to help :-)

3.  Make six (6) identical blocks for each set you want to swap.  You will send five (5) blocks and keep one (1) for yourself.  Please do not repeat fabrics in your sets.  We are going for a really nice scrappy mix of fabrics in our final swapped out blocks :-)  Also, don't send in matching reversed blocks, "reading" with a lighter X floating on a darker background. That could be a different swap, where we can be able to make checkerboard design elements.
Write me if'n you think that would be a fun swap.

4.  You may make up to twelve (12) sets of blocks to swap.  Each set
must be made of different fabrics in order to provide a good mix of scrappy blocks.
